Dear All,

I’m taking part in the Nairn Dunbar Golf Marathon 2007, a golf tournament aimed at raising funds for the Rosebank Mathare School Charity Project. We’ll be starting at 5am and each expect to play over 5 rounds of golf, finishing at 10pm. This should be a big challenge! There’s eight of us playing in two teams of four: myself, Greg Kerr, Michael Green, Stewart Baird, George Asher, Keith Duncan, David Torrance and Andy Burgess. We’re all taking part to raise funds to help build a school in Mathare, Nairobi, to give hundreds of kids the chance of a better life. Currently in Mathare 110 children squeeze into a school which consists of two overcrowded tin huts with no electricity, no water and no toilets. The funds raised by this event will go towards building a substantial new concrete school with 4 floors, electricity, running water and proper sanitation. This will provide nearly 500 children aged between 4 and 18 with a safe and comfortable place to learn. It would be great to have your support to help us achieve this.

This year we’re delighted to announce that every person who sponsors us has the opportunity to win a set of Srixon I-601 Golf Clubs (generously donated by Srixon). The winner of this great prize will be the person who correctly guesses the grand total of holes from all eight players on the day. In the event of a tie break the winner will the person who also gets the grand total of gross birdies right. Finally, should we still have a tie the winner will be the lucky sponsor who also correctly guesses the total number of balls lost on the day by the group. We have pledged to raise £ 10,000 through this event for the Rosebank Mathare School Charity Project. The overall amount we need to get the school built is £100,000, so hitting our target for this event will be a fantastic start.
